Fatso's Rat

One of several British children's books we offer. A quick (and funny) read about Murdo (Fatso) and his weight problem. Murdo's mom is very worried because he only likes to watch TV with his overweight dad, and the two of them are not at all concerned. She takes him to tap dancing and aerobics and swimming, but nothing appeals to him. She finally decides if they get a dog, it will have to be taken for walks, but at the pet shop, Murdo finds a white rat named Rosie. It is love at first sight, so home they go with the rat. It is only when Murdo loses Rosie in a moving van that he discovers how strong he is when he unloads the van almost single- handedly. Mom learns to accept Murdo as he is and not worry so much, and in helping his dad at his house-moving work he trims down a little. Large print and lots of pictures make this ideal for beginner readers.
